Reflections on Popularizing Western Music Education Across Sri Lanka

This work examines how Western music education took root in Sri Lanka through early foreign institutions like Trinity College of Music London and the Royal School of Music London, which began administering graded examinations on the island long before Western music became part of the mainstream curriculum. Through these examination systems, music standards were established and assessed by examiners sent directly from London, shaping the development of formal music training in the country.
